Delicious Istrian delicacies will be served on the central town square in Poreč from Monday to Friday, while fritaja sa špaletom over a glass of Istrian wine awaits you on Sunday. It is a must-try traditional Istrian dish made with scrambled eggs.

Vodnjan špaleta

Although Istria is widely known for prosciutto, the peninsula has an additional gastronomic treat for meat lovers – špaleta. The new/old star of Istrian cuisine was unfairly overlooked for a while. Špaleta is neither fresh meat nor aged prosciutto, but rather it is thinner and less aged than prosciutto. Fortunately, the tradition of preparing špaleta has recently been revived, owing to the Buršić family farm in Vodnjan, so it is coming back step by step.

Štrika Ferata

A newly established cycling-hiking trail along the former railway Rovinj-Kanfanar is what the mysterious name stands for. Pinca in Fažana, wine in Gračišće

When in Istria at Easter, don’t miss the traditional breakfast in Fažana on Easter Monday, when the famous bread named pinca made with flour, butter, eggs and sugar is broken. After breakfast, see the exhibition of large Easter eggs. The so-called pisanice represent life, and Istria is widely known for Easter egg dying and the use of natural colours in the process.

If you happen to pass through central Istria, stop by a wine event in the medieval Gračišće. Namely, the traditional konoba restaurants await you on Easter Monday, with sampling of premium Istrian wines included.
